8/14: Today in history

Finally finding the time to do this..here's some of today's history!

1794: The Russians settled in Alaska.

1862: The Confederates, under General Edmund Kirby Smith, began invading Kentucky in hopes to raise support for the Southern cause in Kentucky as well as to lure Union General Don Carlos Buell out of Tennessee

1893: The first license plates were given out in Paris, France. They weren't given on it the US until a few years later.
